You better run run run

I'm no production expert, but the Sone in me is begging to let this entry out. No, this isn't a rant post. It's actually a (supposedly) review/commentary on the Japanese version of SNSD's "Run Devil Run" music video.

For starters, I liked how most of the girls looked this time. In the Korean version, I had complaints about that vest thing Hyoyeon was wearing and how the lid hair was not one of Yoona's better hairstyles. I prefer the individual black outfits each SNSD member wore. The Japanese stylists made them all look like girls this time.

Yoona, Sooyoung, and Hyoyeon kind of looked like they were wearing boys' clothes in the Korean MV.(despite Yoona and Sooyoung working those boys' clothes). The outfits were a bit more on the silvery gray side more than black. I really approve of the feather on Sooyoung's jacket and the details on Yoona's jacket.

I kind of prefer everyone's individual outfit, except for Tiffany's, Seohyun's and Sunny's. Tiffany's dress looked like something I found in my grandma's closet, while Sunny's... uh... I kind of prefered the black tube top and tutu-like skirt she wore, and the black dress in looked better on Seohyun than this outfit she's wearing.

The white outfits were ok, but I'm kind of "meh" toward them. They're a bit more silvery this time, or maybe it's just my eyes playing tricks on me. Somehow, I don't like the outfits that much, I don't even know why. The black outfit (the one where they all wear the same thing) wasn't exactly as impressive as the Korean one. But I have to admit that the outfit was flattering on all of them. For some reason, the outfits look more purple/blue than black, maybe that's why I prefer the black outfits of the Korean MV.

AND WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS KIM TAEYEON'S HAIR?! Seriously, stylists. You were able to make Hyoyeon look good, so why on earth Taeyeon that weird haircut. It's even worse than the ahjumma haircut Sooyoung had at the beginning of last year's SM Town. No. That hair has to go... NOW! You could have given Taeyeon a better haircut if you wanted to cut her hair short. Seriously, I'm disappointed.

The set has more stuff in the background this time, making it look a bit busier. It looks kind of messy to me though. I prefered the seeming minimalist vibe the Korean MV had over the slightly busier feel I got from this one. The camera work kind of made me dizzy as well. It's just the seeming shifting didn't seem to neat to me and it seemed like it was spinning. It wasn't as neat as the other Shoujo Jidai videos. But I have to admit, it was still nice to watch because all the colors seemed to complement each other in some way. Then again, it could just be my lack of production knowledge.

I kind of wished for an actual storyline for this video, unlike the Korean one which was just the "dance version" with extra scenes from the "Oh!" universe. I actually hoped to see the girls acting fierce and angry while getting revenge on the guy who played them. It would have been waaay more interesting too see that.

The lack of fierceness from Tiffany upsets me. She seemed too mellow to be considered fierce at all. Her face was too gentle to be considered vicious. Seohyun and Sunny also had their moments of lack of intensity. There were some parts that they seemed a bit chill but they were fierce in others. As for the remaining six, I love how they seemed to feel the song, especially Taeyeon and Jessica. Their facial expressions while singing seemed to scream "Do yourself a favor and die, bitch." Jessica's "ice princess" vibe helped her out a lot here. The dancers/kkap foursome (Yoona, Yuri, Sooyoung, and Hyoyeon) looked about happy to cut some bitches as well, and I APPROVE 100%.

The dancer in me is pretty happy with this one, since I get to see the choreography to the song if I'd want to dance to it. There are some slight differences in the choreography, but everything else is pretty much the same.

All in all, I'd give the video a 3.5/5 evaluation. It's not exactly the most brilliant MV out there, but I'm slightly happy with how this one came out. There are some things I have issues with, but those are just probably stemming from my personal biases toward some things.
